“Okay, new rules. You make a basket and I miss, I let you give me a kiss on the cheek. Yeah, I think that’s the worst torture. If I make a basket and you miss, I get to eat more of the cookies you made.”
Needless to say I’ll never get to kiss my baby brother again and all those chocolate chip cookies are gone. I forgot he was an all-star and everything..

Driving through the Sierras. I was never more thankful to be back in California at this point in choir tour. God out does Himself in Creation, and this is but one instance :) (Taken with instagram)

breanna-lynn:

These are just a few things I wish young men would know before they consider pursuing a young woman.

  1. Pursue a woman you would seriously marry, not that you are simply attracted to.
  2. Be friendly and become familiar (some people call this “being friends first” but you have to be careful because…

It’s incredible how we are thrust into strangers’ lives, without a hint of why God brings us there. It’s even more amazing when we reflect upon that instance, and realize why. This was a glimpse of what choir tour was like. Each night, I was given the chance to look briefly into strangers’ lives and take away a distinct lesson as they opened up their homes so graciously. They all gave and shared and gave even more, until they were no longer strangers. I wish I had the chance to grow in a deeper friendship with each of them, but I’m still so grateful for the time I spent knowing them. Each host family gave me something to take home. There was Bob and his wife Carol, who shared a love of intimate ministry and Graham, Kelly, and Logan who led us to take part in beautiful worship. My sweet friends Len and Sylvia shared how to wholeheartedly trust the Lord and how to give selflessly. Deanna and her parents taught how to maintain an ease in life, and live joyfully, no matter what the circumstance. Pastor John and his family of 12 opened my eyes to what it meant to be content and love earnestly. Pam, her husband David and daughter Jordan, shared patience, flexibility and an awe for Christ’s renewal in us. Nicole, Heather and their mom showed true fellowship and an openness to the Lord’s will. Marc, his wife, mother, sister-in-law, five sons and baby daughter, revealed a whole new level of servitude, a love of family and the importance of parenting. Kind-hearted, 85 year olds, Earl and Marie, shared immense wisdom, faithful devotion in 65 years of marriage, and what it meant to seek out Christ’s direction. Lastly, John, Lynette, Kyle, Sarah and Daniel gave a wonderful display of true kinship and a love for each individual family member.

I couldn’t have been more blessed by these fellow brothers and sisters in Christ who lived the Word with their every action displayed. Their generosity can’t even be fully thanked. They are no longer “strangers,” but instead are friends, that I am confident I will one day see in either this life, or certainly in the next.
